The European Network of Palm Scientists) was established in 2001 to facilitate the exchange of information and collaboration between European palm specialists. A EUNOPS meeting has been held annually ever since, providing an informal opportunity for palm biologists to meet and to discuss current research through two days of talks and round table discussions. Previous meetings (and pages associated with the meetings) are listed here.
The sixteenth meeting of EUNOPS will be held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands on the 7-9th May 2016. A conference dinner will be held on the 7th and there will be an excursion on the 9th.
EUNOPS 16 is organized by Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The meeting will be held in AC Hotel Gran Canaria.
The program will include presentations, short communications and round table discussions, as well as plenty of time for informal interactions. Posters can also be presented. The venue is fully equipped with facilities for Powerpoint presentations.
A limited number of rooms have been booked at the AC Hotel Gran Canaria. The hotel is located very close to Las Canteras beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The prices are: 70 EURO single room / 80 EURO twin room per night. Prices per room. Breakfast included. (The prices reflect that fact that May is high season in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).

As usual for EUNOPS meetings, no registration fees are planned, other than for the conference dinner on Sat 7th. The price for the dinner will be around 35 EURO including drinks.
If you wish to participate in the optional excursion on Mon 9th, you will be asked to pay a trip fee of 20 EURO including transport, lunch at a restaurant and a guided tour. The excursion will consist of a visit to the south of Gran Canaria island to obsvere natural palm groves of Phoenix canariensis in Fataga.
Numerous airlines provide direct flights to Gran Canaria.
The airport of Gran Canaria is only 20 mins far from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria city. There are bus every 30 min from airport to the Las Palmas city. Visit http://www.globalsu.net/index_en.php. A taxi is approximately 30-35 € from airport to the venue (Hotel AC Gran Canaria).
Citizens from European Union countries do not need a VISA to enter Canary Islands, but participants from non-EU countries may need to apply for a VISA. Please contact your local embassy or consulate for additional information about visas and contact us if you will need a letter of invitation from the conference organizers. Do this as quickly as possible, as handling time at the embassies or consulates may be substantial. Please see the registration form.
